CHILDREN'S CATECHISM
In the words of Pope John Paul II, "Catechesis prepares for the important commtments of adult life. It is a permanent school of faith and follows the major stages of life, like a beacon lighting the path of the child, the adolescent and the young person."
The Ministry of Catechism is led by the Parish Priest in coordination with the Comboni Sisters of the Parish and a team of Catechists and support team who function under the banner of Catholic Christian Doctrine (CCD) Office
CATECHISM PLAN
Classes 1 - 3 (age group 6 - 8 years) Preparation for Sacraments of First Confession and First Holy Communion
Classes 4 - 8 (age group 9 - 13) Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation
Classes 9 - 12 (age group 14 - 17) Youth program
CATECHISM TERM
Classes held every Friday from the month of September to May.
DAY & TIME (English)
Morning Batch (Classes 1 to 6 & 9 to 12): 9 am to 10 am followed by Holy Mass at 10.15 am
Evening Batch (Classes 1 to 12) : 3.20 pm Holy Mass followed by catechism from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm
REGISTRATION
Registration for the new Catechetical Year for new children may be done from 21 August 2009 at the Catechism Office (Details are given in the link below).
Registration for the Catechetical year 2009 - '10 for children who were born on or before 31 December 2003.
Children attending St Mary's Catholic High School are exempted from attending the Friday Catechism,
as they are taught catechism in the school.
