Yet another fun filled week has gone by at the St. Mary's Summer Program 2010, the highlight being the Fancy Dress contest, which ended on a colourful note, bringing out innovative dressing ideas by the children.

Daily morning exercises included aerobics to popular tunes, after which the children were exposed to a host of engrossing activities.  They learnt the art of origami (paper folding) with the help of Aroon Lobo and Jovita Crasta, drawing through Jhune Batag, Espinosa and other members of Singles for Christ.  Whilst Joseph Dias taught the art of caricature, Erwin Durzt introduced the senior batch children to the important features of photography.  Aroon Lobo also introduced a four part session on Biblical Time Line to the teenagers of Batch 6.

Harold Orona drew children's attention to the importance of food safety at home.  Meghan Varghese, Zaldi Nazaieno, Gizelle Pinto and Prof C F Joseph continued their sessions from the previous week to the children of other batches as well.  Additionally, the full time supervisors and volunteers of the summer programme conducted sessions on Trivia and Bible quizzes, easy cooking like preparing sandwiches, salads and fruit mocktails, reading skills, sand painting and dancing.  Pansy Lobo prepared delicious salads with fruits and vegetables which tickled their taste buds!

Banan Eid from BD conducted interactive sessions on healthcare, encouraging the children to develop healthy eating habits and avoid the risk of diseases such as diabetes.

The scorching summer heat did little to dampen the spirits at the sports arena, be it the football field or the basketball court.

During the course of the week, the busy bees of Batches 1 to 3 were treated to fun-filled field trips to the Sharjah Aquarium and Maritime Museum and also the Desert Oasis Nursery in Rashidiya.

A glimpse at the photographs would be more convincing than words can tell....
